Strategic Plan

We Are All Lakers

We are all Lakers

We are building a school system that guarantees grade-level learning for all students.

Our long-range planning provides guidance to the district’s work now and in the future. Naturally, the plan will be revisited for accountability and adjustment. The Strategic Plan allows our district to be more attractive for families and staff members. Community input is required to create a responsive, purposeful and effective strategic plan.

Building the Plan

Community Input

Your voice is needed for our success! Our school will reflect the values of our citizens. We are grateful for the community’s on-going support!

Individual and community groups will be able to provide their feedback and vision for our schools in numerous ways:

Surveys

  • Individuals can provide their anonymous input using linked surveys. Surveys will be given to staff, students and community members to complete. We encourage all members of our community to complete a survey!

Listening Sessions

  • Each of our stakeholder groups can participate in a facilitated Listening Session to share their perspectives!
  • Listening sessions will be focused on the following questions:
    • What are areas of strength for the district?
    • Where can the district grow in its service?
    • What is your vision for the district in the coming years?
  • We will be hosting listening sessions for students, staff and district leadership during the
school day on Thursday, February 15th
  • Community listening sessions will be hosted at the High School Media Center on Thursday, February 15 at 5:30pm and Monday, February 26th at 5:00pm

Planning Committee

  • Select stakeholders will be invited to be part of the Strategic Planning Committee to analyze gathered data and create the plan.
  • Members of the Planning Committee will meet at least three times to analyze survey results, consider listening session data and to create the strategic plan.
  • HLWW School Board will review the proposed plan during their work session meeting on
    April 22nd.

Hi Everyone!
My name is Emily Holm and I have been the high school counselor for HLWW since 2017. I grew up on a dairy farm in Litchfield, Minnesota before going on to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University, and then my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I now live in Dassel with my husband Nic and two kids, Greta and Andrew.
I enjoy working one on one with students whether we are discussing careers they are interested in, social struggles they may be facing, or academic concerns. It has been a joy to get to know students on a variety of levels and use my training and education to help students both on their best days as well as their challenging times. Please reach out if you would like to check in with me or you feel your student would benefit from additional support!
